Ulysses of Dublin
To celebrate Bloomsday on 16 June 2020, the Hellenic Community of Ireland is presenting “Ulysses of Dublin” online.

Paddy Sammon will talk about the Greek influences on Joyce’s Ulysses.

Fran O’Rourke will discuss James Joyce’s relationship with music and present some of the songs the writer loved and incorporated into his writings.

Polymnia Drakopoulou will present an extract from The Sirens, the most musical episode of Joyce’s Ulysses.

The event will be in the Greek language

Ο Οδυσσέας του Δουβλίνου

Η Ελληνική κοινότητα Ιρλανδίας, με ευκαιρία το Bloomsday, παρουσιάζει την Τρίτη 16 Ιουνίου 2020 την διαδικτυακή εκδήλωση " Ο Οδυσσέας του Δουβλίνου".Ο Paddy Sammon θα μιλήσει για τον Οδυσσέα του Τζέιμς Τζόις και το ελληνικό στοιχείο. Ο Fran O'Rourke θα αναφερθεί στη σχέση του Τζόις με τη μουσική και θα ακουστούν τραγούδια εμπνευσμένα από τον συγγραφέα. Η Πολύμνια Δρακοπούλου θα διαβάσει απόσπασμα της Οδύσσειας του Τζόις. Η εκδήλωση θα γίνει στα ελληνικά. Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek in October 2020

The Centre for the Greek Language announces the final dates of the Examination for the Certification of Attainment in Modern Greek. The Exams will be held in October 2020 replacing the May 2020 Exams which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Κατά την ίδια εξεταστική περίοδο θα διεξαχθούν και οι εξετάσεις για το επίπεδο Α2 για ειδικούς επαγγελματικούς σκοπούς.
Σας υπενθυμίζουμε ότι στις συγκεκριμένες εξετάσεις μπορούν να δηλώσουν συμμετοχή μόνο πολίτες χωρών-μελών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και κατ’ εξαίρεση, μόνο για τα εξεταστικά κέντρα στην Ελλάδα, και πολίτες τρίτων χωρών που επιθυμούν να αποκτήσουν το πιστοποιητικό ελληνομάθειας επιπέδου Α2 για α) χορήγηση άδειας οδήγησης ταξί και β) χορήγηση άδειας εργασίας ως αποκλειστικής νοσοκόμας.

Για να μειώσουμε την εξάπλωση του κορωνοϊού, ζητάμε από τις ευάλωτες ομάδες να εφαρμόσουν την πρακτική της εκούσιας ιατρικής απομόνωσης (κοκούνινγκ)
Ειδικότερα, ζητάμε από τις πιο ευπαθείς ομάδες να εφαρμόσουν το κοκούνινγκ

Ποιος πρέπει να εφαρμόσει αυτή την πρακτική;
> Άτομα άνω των 70 ετών
> Άτομα που ζουν σε οίκους ευγηρίας ή βρίσκονται σε οίκους μακροχρόνιας φροντίδας
> Άτομα με σοβαρές προϋπάρχουσες ιατρικές καταστάσεις που τους καθιστούν ευάλωτους όπως οι παραλήπτες μοσχευμάτων, άτομα που ακολουθούν θεραπεία κατά του καρκίνου, άτομα με σοβαρά αναπνευστικά νοσήματα ή με σπάνια νοσήματα που αυξάνουν τον κίνδυνο λοίμωξης, εγκυμονούσες γυναίκες με σοβαρά καρδιακά νοσήματα
Τι σημαίνει «κοκούνινγκ»;
Σημαίνει ότι πρέπει να μείνετε σπίτι σε κάθε περίπτωση και να αποφύγετε στενές επαφές, πρόσωπο με πρόσωπο. Η οικογένειά σας, οι φροντιστές σας και οι γείτονές σας, καθώς και οι δημόσιες υπηρεσίες μας θα εξασφαλίσουν ώστε να μην σας λείψει τίποτα.

Ελληνομάθεια αναβολή εξετάσεων

«Covid-19» Αναβολή εξετάσεων Μαΐου 2020

Oι εξετάσεις για την πιστοποίηση της ελληνομάθειας έχουν οριστεί για τις 18,19 και 20 Μαΐου 2020 και σε μία εβδομάδα, στις 22/3/2020, λήγει η περίοδος των εγγραφών.
Η παγκόσμια κατάσταση, λόγω της πανδημίας του κορονοϊού και της ραγδαίας μετάδοσής του και στην Ελλάδα, επιβάλλουν την ανάγκη για επαναπροσδιορισμό του αρχικού προγραμματισμού μας και μετάθεση των εξετάσεων του Μαΐου 2020 για το φθινόπωρο του 2020. Προτεραιότητά μας είναι η υγεία και η ασφάλεια των υποψηφίων, των εμπλεκομένων στις εξετάσεις και του προσωπικού μας.
Η νέα περίοδος εγγραφών καθώς και η νέα εξεταστική, η οποία θα οριστεί σε αντικατάσταση αυτής που αναβλήθηκε, θα ανακοινωθούν έγκαιρα στην ιστοσελίδα της πιστοποίησης.
Οι υποψήφιοι μπορούν να επικοινωνούν με τα εξεταστικά τους κέντρα για ενημέρωση σχετικά με τις αιτήσεις που έχουν ήδη υποβληθεί.

Corona virus Covid 19 announcement

In light of the rapidly evolving COVID 19 outreak and the closure of schools and education insitutions in Ireland to contain the spread of the virus, the Greek School of Ireland will remain closed from today, Thursday 12th March 2020, until Sunday 29th March 2020. Classes will not be held either in Dublin or Dundalk.
 
We are currently exploring the option of online classes where possible and we will keep you informed of any developments.

4th Greek Business and Art Festival

The Hellenic Community of Ireland with the support of EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum proudly presents the “4th Greek Business and Arts Festival”.
The festival will take place in CHQ, 1 Custom House Quay, North Dock, Dublin 1 on Sunday 23rd February 2020 from 11:00 to 16:00.

We also invite everyone to participate in two Greek traditions: the Gaitanaki (Carnival dance) and the cutting of the Vasilopita (St Basil’s cake).
 

All visitors to the 4th Greek Business and Arts festival are eligible for a 50% discount on the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum museum ticket.

We would like to inform you that this year registrations are to be processed electronically through the electronic registration system (available at

The exams will take place from 18th to 20th May 2020 at Hellenic Community of Ireland premises in Dublin.

Our best wishes for the year 2020!
We are happy to announce that the majority of our activities will take place in our new premises 19 Belvedere Place, Dublin 1. We would like to thank all of you and our partners that have supported us along the way so far.

The classes of our school will begin in week starting on Monday 6/1/2020 at our new premises 19 Belvedere Place, Dublin 1.

Our Greek Business and Arts Festival will take place on 23rd February 2020 at the beautiful space of CHQ in collaboration with the EPIC museum, the magnificent museum of Irish Diaspora. We invite you to come and meet the Greeks in Diaspora! More information will follow soon.

The cutting of our Vasilopita will take place during the Greek Festival, on 23rd February.

 

Christmas Event

Dear members and friends of the Hellenic Community of Ireland,

We are happy to invite you to the Christmas celebrations and bazaar of the Hellenic Community of Ireland which are built around the children of the Greek School.

Please come and sing Christmas carols with us on Sunday 15/12/2019 at 13:00 at the Robert Emmet Community Development Project at 3 Usher Street, Dublin 8, D08 T202. Parents, Guardians and relatives of children that do not attend the Greek school are very welcome to participate not only in singing with us but in reciting a poem too.

Santy (Ayios Vasilis) is bringing his presents that each adult/guardian will bring wrapped up with the name of the child written on it. Presents strictly not above €10.
