Σας προσκαλούμε στο online 5o  Ελληνικό Φεστιβάλ Επιχειρηματικότητας και Τεχνών.  
 
Το 5o Φεστιβάλ της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Ιρλανδίας θα πραγματοποιηθεί διαδικτυακά λόγω των περιοριστικών μέτρων.  
Το Φεστιβάλ θα παρουσιάσει ένα ευρύ φάσμα δραστηριοτήτων που συνδέονται κατά οποιονδήποτε τρόπο με την Ελλάδα, Κύπρο και Ιρλανδία. Θα διεξαχθεί με υβριδικό τρόπο το Σαββατοκύριακο 10 & 11 Απριλίου, από 19:30  έως 21:00 μέσα από την ιστοσελίδα και τo facebook της κοινότητας. 
 
Ιδιαίτερη τιμή αποτελεί η παρουσίαση του Φεστιβάλ από την κα Τίνα Κουμαριανός.

1940-2020 80 Years OXI Day

The Hellenic Community of Ireland is organising an online event to mark the resistance of Greece to the Italian forces on 28th October 1940. 

The Greek poet and academic Dr Natasha Remoundou will read pieces from Nikos-Gavriil Pentzikis, Primo Levi and Hannah Ardent about that period.

  • Historian Mr Fergus D’Arcy will answer questions about the 2nd world war in Ireland,
  • The president of the anti war movement in Ireland Mr Michalis Youlton will explain the influence of that movement at that time,
  • Scholar and ex-diplomat Mr Paddy Sammon will tell us about Irish neutrality.
  • Mr Pantelis Goularas who is the Irish representative of the Irish branch of the International Society of Friends Nikos Kazantzakis will talk to us about Nikos Kazantzakis at that time.
  • Mr. David Howley will read poetry by Odysseas Elytis.The event will be live broadcasted be on 28th October 2020 at 7:30 pm.

Greek music performed by Iordanis Sidiropoulos. Iordanis is a young Greek compser/song writer and performer that lives in Ireland since 2017. Iordanis is going to play Melina’s songs as well as some of his own compositions.

Ulysses of Dublin

Ulysses of Dublin
To celebrate Bloomsday on 16 June 2020, the Hellenic Community of Ireland is presenting “Ulysses of Dublin” online.

Paddy Sammon will talk about the Greek influences on Joyce’s Ulysses.

Fran O’Rourke will discuss James Joyce’s relationship with music and present some of the songs the writer loved and incorporated into his writings.

Polymnia Drakopoulou will present an extract from The Sirens, the most musical episode of Joyce’s Ulysses.

The event will be in the Greek language

Η Ελληνική κοινότητα Ιρλανδίας, με ευκαιρία το Bloomsday, παρουσιάζει την Τρίτη 16 Ιουνίου 2020 την διαδικτυακή εκδήλωση " Ο Οδυσσέας του Δουβλίνου".Ο Paddy Sammon θα μιλήσει για τον Οδυσσέα του Τζέιμς Τζόις και το ελληνικό στοιχείο. Ο Fran O'Rourke θα αναφερθεί στη σχέση του Τζόις με τη μουσική και θα ακουστούν τραγούδια εμπνευσμένα από τον συγγραφέα. Η Πολύμνια Δρακοπούλου θα διαβάσει απόσπασμα της Οδύσσειας του Τζόις. Η εκδήλωση θα γίνει στα ελληνικά. OXI day

Dear members and friends,

You are cordially invited to the celebrations of 28th  October 1940 that is going to take part on Sunday 27th October at 14:30 at the Emmet Community Development Project,  Usher Street, The Liberties, Dublin 8.

Celebrations include reciting of poems from students in our school and handing over of the certificates of attainment in modern Greek.

We would like to remind you that the mid term break is between Monday 28th October till Sunday 3rd November.

Classes will start again on Monday 4th November.

4th Dublin Greek Film Festival

στηρίζει ως χορηγός το 4ο Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου που διεξάγεται στο Δουβλίνο από τις 18 έως τις  21 Οκτωβρίου και προωθεί στα μέλη και τους φίλους της,το αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα του Φεστιβάλ.

The 4th Dublin Greek Film Festival will kick off with the pre – festival screening of the movie While You Live, Shine’ (2017) directed by Paul Duane. This mesmerising film uses its swirling music & beautifully choreographed camerawork to delve into the human need for communal experience through music and dance, as shown in the ancient ‘panegyri’ of Epirus in Northern Greece, a three-day festival of ecstatic music & dancing. The screening will take place at Chester Beatty on Saturday October 13 at 6pm followed by Q&A with Paul Duane and a wine reception sponsored by Gaia Wines. There is a limited number of tickets available for the Chester Beatty Members; please book here

CULTURE NIGHT 2018


Dear members and friends of the Hellenic Community of Ireland,

We are pleased to invite you to the Culture Night 2018 event “Aesop’s fables”, which will take place on Friday 21 Sep 2018 at Gutter Bookshop, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar, from 5 pm till 5:45pm, where stories from this great storyteller will be read. This event is an initiative of Dr Franchesca De La Morgia, Mother Tongues Director, and Ms Aimee van Wylick, Culture Night National Coordinator.

We will have the opportunity to enjoy our teachers Xanthi Bakoyanni, Vassiliki Ploumbi, and Paddy Sammon reading stories in Greek (modern and ancient!) and more.

We would like to thank Mother Tongues and Culture Night, whom our Community is supporting, and also Mr Robert Johnston of Gutter Bookshop, for making this event possible.

Greece Wildfires- Fundraiser Charity Concert

Surprised and shocked by the recent tragic fires that attacked our fellow humans in Attica – Greece, together with the Greek Orthodox Community and a number of well known as well as anonymous Irish friends, like for example the Kilnaughtin Group in Rathkeale (Patrick Comeford) , or the unique Donal Lunny and the special Theo Dorgan, we will act accordingly: we will help as much as we can. Immediately with the organization of a musical evening, the income of which will be given to the victims of the recent fires.
A number of Greek musicians as well as Irish artists involved in music and the arts will participate unselfishly in this musical evening.
The musical evening will take place on Saturday September 1st in the
Grand Social premises in Lower Liffey Street, Dublin 1.

Lets make a humanity appointment.
We will wait for all of you in this unique occasion in order to show our practical solidarity towards our distressed compatriots.
